In my twenties, I looked forward to January and the excitement and anticipation of the new year. I’d purchase a cute journal and fill the pages with hopes and dreams, setting new goals for the new year.
Today, I find myself pressing reset. Time is flying by, and I had to remind myself that it’s okay to press reset! So, I’m starting over...on your mark, get set, go! Every step of faith I take is part of God’s bigger plan for me and you.
Whether you feel like me, you're behind and playing catch-up, or you have already faced some setbacks, it’s okay to press reset. God’s purpose for your life is being fulfilled day by day, and His mercies are new every morning. This year isn’t about how fast you move; it’s about being faithful and true to yourself and your purpose and allowing God to walk with you every step of the way.
I remember feeling stuck a few years ago as if I was running in place while everyone else seemed to sprint ahead. I kept asking God, "Am I in the right race? What am I missing? What’s next? How long will I be in the wilderness?" One day, I was journaling in my quiet time, meditating on Hebrews 12:1: "Run with endurance the race that is set before us." God reminded me that the race He has set for each of us looks different. It's not about how quickly we reach the finish line but about staying in our own lane, trusting His timing and purpose.
It was like God whispered to me, "I’m not finished with you yet. That simple truth freed me from the pressure to measure my progress by anyone else’s timeline. It reminded me that God’s faithfulness is what keeps me moving forward—not my own strength. And guess what? That year became one of the most pivotal seasons in my life because I leaned into His timing instead of my own.
5 Steps to Move Forward in Faith with Renewed Purpose
Pause and Seek God in Prayer...Begin by quieting your heart and seeking God’s guidance. Ask Him to reveal His purpose for this season of your life, and trust that He hears your prayers.
Reflect on His Faithfulness...Take time to remember how God has been faithful to you in the past. Journaling these moments can reignite your trust in His plan and remind you that He’s always working for your good.
Surrender Your Plans to Him...Release the need to control everything and align your desires with God’s will. Trust that His plans for you are greater than anything you could imagine (Proverbs 3:5-6).
Take the Next Step in Faith...You don’t need to see the whole picture to move forward. Focus on the next small step God is calling you to take, whether it’s an act of obedience, serving others, or pursuing a goal.
Surround Yourself with Encouragement...Build a circle of faith-filled friends, mentors, or a church community that uplifts and supports you.
A Prayer Just For You:
Lord, thank you for fulfilling your purpose for me. For being a God who never leaves or forsakes me. Your love endures forever, and your promises never fail. Even when I feel stuck, I will trust that you are divinely orchestrating every step I take. I surrender my plans for yours and walk boldly into the purpose you have set before me. Shape me, Lord, refine me, and use every moment to draw me closer to you. I am confident in all that you are doing in my life. Amen!
Reflection Question:
What area of your life feels stuck or uncertain right now? How can you trust God’s faithfulness to lead you in that area this week?
Closing Thoughts:
As you start this week, take a moment to breathe and remind yourself—I can press reset! Trust that God’s timing is perfect and that He has equipped you with everything you need for this season. Sis, you are right where God wants you. Keep moving forward in faith!
Love,
Pastor Sheila
